Big news for a little shop with a big idea. 🛹

The @atlbizchronicle recently spent some time with us talking about our vision for East Atlanta Skateshop and, more importantly, about why young people need places to belong, gather, create, and grow outside of home and school.

We’re building this space with our young people and our neighborhood, and we’ve been incredibly encouraged by the coalition forming around it: local businesses, funders, skaters, creatives, civic partners, and neighbors who believe East Atlanta’s growth should include meaningful spaces for kids and teens.

We’re deep in buildout and permitting now, and there is still plenty of work ahead, but this vision is becoming real.

Thanks to @joshuaskinnertv from @atlantanewsfirst for sharing the ongoing impact that @cocogauff has had on our community and our youth development programming at EAKC. Huge thanks to @coachdaisha360 for always being a great role model for our kids.

We also owe a huge thanks to @artinthepaintorg who renovated these courts (and our basketball court) alongside public spaces all over Atlanta (and beyond). We help convene folks, but the labor of pulling together partners and making these spaces inviting for kids and community is all them ❤️

@drewborders.art worked her magic on this like everything else she paints 💫

What an incredible Juneteenth celebration! ❤️🖤💚
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing EAKC families for showing up in so many ways. Whether you attended, donated food, shared your talents, volunteered your time, or supported our Teen Club by purchasing their Juneteenth merchandise, your contributions helped make this event a tremendous success.

A special congratulations goes out to our Teen Club members, who did an outstanding job creating and nearly selling out their merchandise. It was gratifying watching our youth showcase their creativity, with confidence, and true entrepreneurial spirit.

We would also like to thank Ms. Ashley of @nguzobabies
for providing such a fun and engaging puppet show for our littles. Their smiles, laughter, and excitement said it all!

Juneteenth is a time to celebrate freedom, culture, community, and the strength of those who came before us. We are grateful to have shared this meaningful day with our families and supporters.

Thank you for helping us create another memorable Juneteenth celebration. It truly could not have been done without you.

For years, Root & Blossom Counseling has partnered

For years, Root & Blossom Counseling has partnered with East Atlanta Kids Club to strengthen protective factors for youth and families in southeast Atlanta.

Together, we’ve worked to ensure that counseling and mental health support are accessible to families without cost becoming a barrier. Through this partnership, young people have received care, connection, encouragement, and space to grow - all within the community they call home.

That’s why it means so much to see Root & Blossom supporting our youth-led skateshop and third space vision as an early believer. Alongside our other early believers, they see the bigger picture and know that we each have simultaneously unique and overlapping roles to play in building a resilient community for all of our neighbors.

Rachel and the Root & Blossom team understand that such communities are built intentionally. They understand that safe spaces matter. They understand that belonging matters.

As both a parent and entrepreneur, Rachel continues expanding her own work in service of more young people and families across Atlanta, and she understands the stakes for this critical care work.

We are grateful for their partnership, their trust, and their belief in what our youth are building.

For decades, Victoria and Park Pet Supply have bee

For decades, Victoria and Park Pet Supply have been part of the fabric of East Atlanta.

Both Park Pet Supply and East Atlanta Kids Club were founded during a very different era of this neighborhood - the late 90s, when East Atlanta was still rough(er) around the edges, deeply DIY, and held together by people who believed in community before it was fashionable or profitable to do so.

Through every version of East Atlanta since then, Victoria has continued to show up.

She has supported EAKC and our kids in countless ways over the years, and she understands something important: creating intentional, safe spaces for kids and teens doesn’t just benefit young people - it strengthens the entire community around them.

That same philosophy is part of what has made Park Pet Supply such an anchor in East Atlanta. While businesses around her have come and gone through economic shifts, redevelopment, and changing trends, Victoria has continued holding down a daytime storefront rooted in care, consistency, and connection.

We’re grateful for her support of our youth-led skateshop & third space vision and honored to recognize Park Pet Supply as part of our Early Believer Series.

Since they first opened here in EAV, Zach George and East Atlanta Comics have supported East Atlanta Kids Club while building something special for our community: a true third space where kids, teens, families, creatives, and longtime neighbors all feel welcome.

Now, as EAKC works to build a youth-led skateshop and third space for southeast Atlanta teens, East Atlanta Comics is once again helping bring the vision to life.

This custom engraved deck is part of our “Early Believer Series,” recognizing the local businesses and community partners helping us imagine something bigger for young people in our neighborhood.

Zach also serves as President of the East Atlanta Business Association, where EAKC’s ED is proud to serve alongside him in supporting a stronger, more connected East Atlanta community.

Supporting kids and community is a superpower.
